Photographs and the Future

For some time now, I’ve been been meaning to put some of my photographs on the theatre O website. Over the years, I’ve been taking photos of projects that I’ve been involved in, either as director or movement director. I’ve been in a unique position, in as much as I know the shows better than most people, so have sometimes found it easier to be in the right place at the right time for the photograph. It’s a lovely record of some of the work I’ve done and the people that I’ve worked with.

The reason that it’s taken me so long to do anything about it is because a) I’ve always been a bit shy about it and b) in order to let people know about them, it seems that I need to take the plunge and have at least some contact with Instagram. Just the thought of Instagram makes me tired…

But…

I have pulled myself together enough to make myself believe that I can have some sort of low level Insta-presence, if only to put a link out there that may or may not lead someone to the website!

So each week I’ll publish a small gallery of images. I hope that they’re interesting as photographs, as well as a record of the projects themselves. I’ll start with the most recent and work my way back into the dark and distant past. With each new gallery I’ll put a small selection of pictures on instagram (joszef.a), but will also send out a note to the mailing list - I hope that’s ok. This week there are photographs from the production of La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart), that I directed for the Academy of The Royal Danish Opera, in the midst of lockdown last year.

In other news… well, there isn’t too much other news! Sadly my project directing a new show in Copenhagen bit the covid dust - it was a lot of fun to work on, and an immense challenge to keep adapting to the changing circumstances, but in the end it became too complicated to make happen. A great experience writing it and adapting it though.

Carolina continues to do a fair bit of work online, which is very handy, though most importantly she’s pushing forward with ideas for writing new pieces.

We are tentatively moving forward with producing Sheriff; tentatively, of course, because it’s still very unclear how live performance is going to happen over the coming months. We’re taking a very different approach than we have with previous projects - not an easy one, but an exciting one that we feel reflects the spirit of the project. We’ll share more information as it develops.
